SolidRun Thursday announced its all-new line of system-wide SolidWAN solutions for software-defined wide area networks and network security applications.
It will be available in different formats, with different wired and wireless network configuration options, the developer and manufacturer of the high-performance System on Module (SOM) solutions said in a statement. SolidWAN networking solutions are ideal for home office use, SMB applications, and deployment at the network edge.
“Companies around the world are developing their network infrastructure to take advantage of the tremendous flexibility, security, and cost-saving benefits of software-defined networking,” said Mordy Blunstein, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at SolidRun.
However, one size does not fit all when it comes to network devices. This is especially true when connecting today’s distributed workforce. With this in mind, we’ve created the game-changing SolidWAN line, making software-defined networking affordable and easily deployable in home offices, branch offices, data centers, and more.
SolidWAN network hardware solutions are optimized for software-defined networking applications and provide direct connection of network ports to the CPU. This direct connection allows all network traffic to be managed by software, which not only ensures the highest levels of security and the best possible quality of service, but also makes it quick and easy to upgrade network hardware, deploy updates, and create new network services.
Integrated Layerscape® LX2 SoCs from NXP® Semiconductors deliver advanced data path acceleration optimized for L2/3 packet processing, security offloading, robust traffic management and quality of service.
“The future of network management depends on software, and NXP has built the powerful Layerscape LX2160A and LX2162A processors with this in mind,” said Toby Foster, NXP Senior Director of Product Marketing.
“SolidRun’s SolidRun networking solutions take full advantage of the LX2 line of 16 powerful processor cores, multiple SerDes lanes, security acceleration, and a data compression engine to produce cost-effective, compact devices that can be configured to serve any number of enterprise and edge processing network functions, while helping to Reduce latency, enhance security, and improve resilience. “
For home offices and small and medium businesses
SolidWAN LX2162A is a compact network solution that takes full advantage of the robust performance and security features built into the NXP LX2162A SoC. Using the SolidRun LX2-Lite system as the basis for this compact system, the SolidWAN LX2162A effectively meets the needs of small and medium businesses and local branch offices with outstanding performance and security.
This unit is designed with a wide range of wired and wireless software-defined networking options, including eight dedicated GbE RJ45 ports, two 25Gb SFP ports, two dedicated 10GbE SFP interfaces, an optional GbE RJ45 management port, LTE and Wi-Fi options. Maximum flexibility in on-site installation while maintaining a compact, desktop-friendly footprint and low price point.
SolidRun also provides small-format fanless SD-WAN platforms with quad-core processors and dedicated software-defined 1GbE/2.5GbE/10GbE Ethernet ports to address home offices, remote workers, and industrial sites that need high-security, high-performance network services.
For Enterprise and Edge
For the most advanced enterprise and edge data center applications, the SolidWAN Dual LX2160A network solution features 32-core processing performance for advanced network security and accelerated data routing capabilities.
With two SolidRun LX2160A COM Express 7 modules serving as the base of the system, each one packing 16 cores NXP LX2160A SoC, up to 32GB of DDR4, up to 64GB of eMMC built in, this SD-Wan is a software-defined network security target system that supports up to 24 Dedicated high-speed Ethernet uplink (12 10 Gigabit SFP+ and 12 1 Gigabit SFP).
This system is also equipped with a 2x100GbE OCP3.0 Dual Host NIC that features two dedicated 100GbE QSFP28 interfaces. What is more surprising than the number of dedicated high-speed connections this system supports is its size.
Thanks to the purpose-built, network-focused design of the SoCs used and the thermal efficiency of Arm processors, SolidRun was able to engineer this system to fit in a standard 1U rack-mountable enclosure.
For less intensive applications, SolidRun offers the SolidWAN Single LX2160A networking solution that features a single NXP LX2160A SoC and supports up to 16 high-speed Ethernet connections (8 10 Gigabit SFP+ and 8 1 Gigabit SFP interfaces). This system is equipped with a 4x10GbE OCP3.0 NIC that features four dedicated SFP+ interfaces. Like the SolidWAN Dual LX2160A, this system also features a compact 1U rack mountable case.
As with many SolidRun network hardware solutions, the SolidWAN family of products offers storage SKUs that support a wide range of deployment environments and can be preconfigured for commercial applications where environmental conditions range from 0°C to 70°C, or for more extreme industrial applications where conditions range from 0°C to 70°C. Between -40°C to 75°C.
SolidWAN products are compatible with Linux-based SDN software applications, including the DPDK, which provides data level libraries and polling mode drivers for the network interface controller to offload processing of TCP packets from the operating system kernel to processes running in user space.
SolidRun has also partnered with several software developers to provide SD-WAN and Security Services software to customers.
