Corinthians president Duilio Monteiro Alves has revealed his boundless ambition to sign world-class players, and Cristiano Ronaldo is no exception.
Montero Alves spoke on the Ulissescast podcast about the reality of negotiating with Ronaldo: “It is true that I have the desire to sign Cristiano Ronaldo. My dreams are big, because I manage the great Corinthians. Don’t we have Willian? Renato Augusto? Formerly Vitor Pereira?”.
He explained: “I don’t know if Ronaldo will come or not. Currently we are not trying to include him, we are not working on the deal, there is no way. But we are monitoring the situation, maybe suddenly the boy will want to play in Brazil, why not?”
He also revealed: “We have been in contact with Suarez and Cavani for a while, I spoke with Cavani’s brother personally and with Suarez’s representatives to explore the financial values, and nothing more.”
“We were able to make an offer for Suarez, but it is not a priority for us now. Now we have Yuri Alberto and he is a young player. If you ask our coach I am not sure which one he will choose, he wants young players who are sharp, but we spoke with Suarez and Cavani, why not? “.
The crisis erupted on June 23 when Portuguese newspaper Record reported that Ronaldo had threatened Manchester United to leave and was not convinced by coach Eric Ten Hag.
And she reported that Ronaldo is angry at the inability of the United management to make strong reinforcements in the summer transfer market.
And the name of Bayern Munich appeared on the surface as a possible candidate to include Ronaldo, who wants to participate in the Champions League next season.
But the “Sky” network made it clear that the idea is not viable due to Bayern’s desire to maintain his salary structure, in addition to Ronaldo’s advanced age (37 years).
At the end of June, his compatriot Bruno Fernandez expressed his desire for Ronaldo to continue with the team.
“Now we are on vacation and no one is disturbing our friends during it,” Bruno said via Record newspaper.
He added, “Everyone is responsible for his future, but I do not believe that the club is ready to lose a player of Ronaldo’s value.”
Before former Roma player Angelo Di Livio exploded a loud surprise and claimed in statements to the Italian “Reports” program that Ronaldo will sign for the Giallorossi by July 7.
“I spoke to a friend by chance and found out about negotiations with Cristiano at a dinner a few days ago,” he added.
“A reliable person stressed to me that Roma are trying to get Cristiano Ronaldo by all means, there is some disagreement over the image rights, but I know he will leave United.”
The situation flared up further by July when the British newspaper “The Times” revealed that Ronaldo had officially informed Manchester United’s management of his desire to leave this summer.
But Manchester United’s response came sternly by refusing, according to what was revealed by the “The Athletic” network, which confirmed the Red Devils’ adherence to their Portuguese star.
By July 4, the problem became tangible when Ronaldo did not appear at Manchester United’s training ground on his first day of pre-season training.
Ronaldo went to the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, to train at the Portuguese Football Federation headquarters individually, and informed his club not to attend for family reasons.
The names of the clubs with which Ronaldo is linked have increased, and Barcelona was no exception, according to the Spanish newspaper “AS”, which revealed a meeting between Jorge Mendes, the player’s agent, and Joan Laporta, the club’s president.
At the same time, Luther Matthaus, the legend of Germany and Bayern Munich, expressed his enthusiasm for the possibility of contracting Ronaldo.
And Matthaus wrote in his column for “Sky” Germany: “Ronaldo to Bayern will be very exciting, think about the options available now, this is the best of them.”
“If you’re in Bayern’s situation you think Cristiano Ronaldo is still physically able to really help for a year or two,” he added.
“In attack, Bayern can score an incredible number of goals with Sadio Mane, Thomas Muller, Ronaldo and Kingsley Coman.”
Before the first official response came from Bayern, CEO Oliver Kahn dismissed the idea.
Kahn said in statements to the German newspaper Kicker: “With all due respect to Cristiano Ronaldo, I consider him one of the best players in the world, but signing him would not fit the philosophy of Bayern Munich.”
The situation became more complicated when the British newspaper “Telegraph” revealed that Ronaldo will not travel with the team to participate in the preparation period in East Asia.
Chelsea’s name was echoed strongly, and coach Thomas Tuchel was asked about it by a fan and he replied cleverly: “I won’t tell you.”
As for Ten Hag, he finally spoke about the crisis on July 11th and declared it explicitly: “Ronaldo is not for sale.”
He pointed out: “He spoke with Ronaldo before this topic was raised and the conversation was very good.”
Ronaldo, in turn, continued to present himself to the major European clubs through his agent Mendes, who contacted Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of Paris Saint-Germain.
According to the French newspaper, Le Parisien, Al-Khelaifi rejected the idea and explained to Mendes that his team has other plans in the transfer market.
Another new blow came by July 23, when the British newspaper “The Times” indicated that Atletico Madrid were interested in bringing in Ronaldo.
Two days later, Ronaldo appeared in Manchester to meet with the administration, which made it clear in his face: “You will not leave.”
Then Enrique Cerezo, president of Atletico Madrid, came out to comment on the news of the signing of Ronaldo.
“I don’t know who invented the story of Cristiano,” the Atletico president told Spanish radio station “Cadena Cuba”.
“But it is practically impossible for him to move to Atletico Madrid.”
And in a rare and mysterious reaction, Ronaldo interacted through his Instagram account with one of the news of his request to leave.
And the “cristianoronaldoish” account wrote the news that Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, told United of his client’s desire to leave, but he left the meeting with club officials with a negative feeling that the Madeira missile would be approved.
The report indicated that United’s historic coach Sir Alex Ferguson had intervened and United insisted Ronaldo was not for sale.
Ronaldo replied, “It is impossible not to write about me even for one day.”
“Otherwise, the press will not make money. You know that if you do not lie, you will not attract people’s attention.”
“Keep on going until you get some true news one day,” he added.
Then Ronaldo commented on a post for another account called “CR7madridy_” after he published a picture of the Atletico Madrid fans, announcing their desire not to move to their ranks, with expressive faces laughing in irony about them.
At the end of last month, “BN Sports” reported that Napoli, Italy, was the latest interested in signing Ronaldo.
Ronaldo then went out on Instagram and announced his participation in the Rayo Vallecano friendly match.
Ronaldo wrote: “On Sunday the king will play.”
But a new episode in the crisis began when Ronaldo left the field at half-time after being substituted.
Tin Hag criticized him for his behavior: “I certainly don’t accept that, I think it’s unacceptable.”
“We are a team and everyone should have stayed until the end of the match,” he added.
