Today, Tuesday, Shiite Muslims, followers and lovers of the household of the Messenger of God (PBUH), commemorated the martyrdom of Imam Hussein bin Ali (peace be upon him), his family and his companions in Karbala, by holding Ashura ceremonies, mourning councils, marches and Husseini processions, in various countries of the Islamic world.
Millions of Iraqis participated in Ashura ceremonies in the holy city of Karbala, in commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and his family.
The Husseiniya and Abbasid shrines witnessed a massive march, in which the participants flocked in huge processions from various Iraqi cities. They chanted the Husseini slogans that Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) pledged to fulfill him, stay on his line, and respond to his call, no matter how great the sacrifices. And they raised unified flags and banners in huge numbers.
Millions of people from different Iraqi cities and governorates, and from Arab and Islamic countries, flocked to the shrine of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and his brother Abbas in the holy Karbala, and the streets of the city were filled with service processions that provided food and water to visitors.
The march included the “Twirej Run”, one of the largest human gatherings that occur around the world, and is held annually on the tenth of Muharram, and starts from the Qantara al-Salam area in Karbala towards the shrine of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) in the center of the old city with a length of up to 2 km.
Syrian Muslims and visitors from different regions commemorated Ashura in the Al-Amin neighborhood, in the center of the capital, Damascus, the Sayyid Mohsen Al-Amin School, and the shrine of Sayyida Zainab, peace be upon her, with the establishment of Husseini councils and the reading of the Husseini funeral. These ceremonies concluded with mass rallies.
A large crowd of followers and fans of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon him), who came from different Syrian cities to offer condolences and sympathy to Ahl al-Bayt on their affliction on this great day, participated in the mourning ceremony.

Thousands of Shiites, followers and devotees of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) in Bahrain commemorated Ashura, with Husseini mourning councils in Husseiniyas and Husseiniya clubs, in different areas of the capital, Manama, and concluded with a massive Ashura procession.
The Yemeni people commemorated the Ashura of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), with mourning rallies and mass rallies, in the capital, Sanaa, and the rest of the provinces.
The Iranian people commemorated the eternal memory with mourning ceremonies and huge marches in various Iranian cities, in which millions participated, in the capital, Tehran, and in various Iranian cities and provinces that turned black.
A central mourning gathering was held in the Husseiniya of Imam Khomeini (may God be pleased with him) in Tehran, in the presence of the Leader Imam Sayyid Ali Khamenei, and Iranian leaders and officials. It included a reading of the Husseini biography and elegies that glorify the Tuff martyrs in Karbala.
Other Iranian cities also witnessed huge rallies and mourning processions in the streets and public squares. Hussainiya councils were held in mosques and hussainiyas, in the presence of large crowds, where lamentations were read, as well as a narration of the kindness in which Imam Hussain (peace be upon him), his family and companions were martyred.
Thousands of Turks, followers and lovers of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon him) celebrated the day of Ashura, in several Hussainiya councils in the city of Istanbul, and Halkali Square in the city center witnessed a large crowd of mourners, who came from different regions, with foot and car processions, carrying black banners, pictures and banners that carried Immortal phrases and words of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), and they chanted the slogans of renewing the covenant, loyalty and allegiance to Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), and the slogan “for your sake, Hussein.”
Politicians, members of parliament and representatives of religious and civil institutions participated in the ceremony, organized by the Jaafari Endowment in Istanbul.
This ceremony included theatrical performances that depicted the tragedy of Karbala and the injustice suffered by Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and the family of the Messenger of God (peace be upon him).
The Ashura commemoration ceremonies of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) were held in mourning councils and Husseini marches in Pakistani cities and states. The most prominent were in Kashmir, Karachi, and Peshawar.
A Hussainiya mourning procession started from Mahal Shah Khorasan, towards the center of Karachi, during which the participants carried 72 symbolic coffins representing the martyrs of the Karbala incident.
Shiite Muslims in India also commemorated Ashura, by holding mourning councils, marches, and slapping processions in many Indian cities.
The city of (Chennai, Kashmir, Srinagar, and Ahmedabad) witnessed Ashura commemoration ceremonies, and these ceremonies included the performance of popular plays that narrate the tragedy of the Taff in Karbala.
