Maybe you took a picture of your Social Security number, your birth certificate, or your payroll and tax statement, or maybe you want to keep your kids’ pictures in a safe place, all of which we worry about when it comes to selfies.

The photo galleries on our phones contain hundreds of moments and memories that we want to go back to and forget others, but at the same time we are afraid that someone will access our photos so we can resort to some tricks in order to hide the photos.

Hide photos in phones

According to estimates by Rise Above Research, smartphone users take approximately 1.5 trillion photos annually, which means that every person on Earth has taken more than 150 photos.

Here’s how to hide sensitive photos from prying eyes, as the Washington Post advises.

Whether you’re using Android version 6 or later, you can add photos to your “locked folder” with the authentication method you use to unlock your device.

Photos inside the locked folder will not appear in search results, albums, during photo cloud transfers, or under algorithmically designed Memories. And remember, anyone who can unlock your device will be able to view the locked folder and its contents.

Here’s how to set it up:

Open the Google Photos app from your mobile phone.

Go to “Library”, then “Utilities”.

Then click on “Set up Locked Folder Feature.”

And if you’re using a Google Pixel 3 or later, you can save photos directly to the locked folder by opening the Pixel Camera app, tapping the Gallery icon, and then selecting Locked Folder.

The “Archive” feature in Google Photos will save the photos away from the Memories section, but they will continue to appear in search results and albums.

You can archive an image by pressing “More” (the three little dots) and selecting “Move to archive”. You can find archived photos later by visiting the Library at the bottom of the Photos app.

Apple devices also offer a hidden album feature, and files inside that album won’t appear in your camera roll, regular albums, slide shows, or widgets.

You can move the photos to the hidden album by clicking on the photo you want to hide, then pressing the “Share” button, and selecting “Hide”.

You can find the hidden album later by opening the Photos app, tapping Albums, and scrolling down to Utilities.

And remember, anyone who can unlock your device will be able to search and find the hidden album, unless you make it disappear by locking it.

You can do this by opening the Settings app, and scrolling down until you see the Photos app. Then turn off Hidden Albums by clicking the button until it turns gray.

Hide Pictures on Samsung Phone

Some Samsung devices come with a Secure Folder option. You can set this option by opening the Settings app, going to Biometrics and Security, then clicking Secure Folder.

Configure the folder by choosing your preferred lock method, such as a PIN or password.

You may need to sign in to your Samsung account to complete this step.

You can add photos to Secure Folder from the Applications screen. Click Add Files, then choose the photos you want to hide.

If you want to hide Secure Folder afterwards, head to Settings, click Biometrics and Security, and select Secure Folder. Then click the Show Secure Folder button to turn it off and confirm that you want to hide it.

Cloud storage means that your photos and videos reside inside a server somewhere, that is, they can be accessed by more than one device, while cloud providers rely on security measures like encryption.

Storing photos on the cloud is a great way to protect your photos and save local storage space, while Google Photos is one of the most popular cloud storage for photos because it offers users unlimited storage, according to Google in its CBackup.

In addition to that, it also offers many advanced features, such as shared albums, automatic creations, and advanced editing suite.

The feature to hide photos in cloud storage is now available for both Android and iOS users as well as the desktop version of Google Photos.

To hide photos, just select them and choose Archive to hide them, after archiving, the photos will not be shown in your album or homepage, but they remain in your Google Photos and you can view them in the archive option.

Also, there are other ways, which is by using programs designed to hide photos, and once you put your files into one of those digital vaults, you will need a specific password or PIN code to access these files.

Keepsafe for Android or iOS is the most prominent software used, which comes with an easy-to-use interface, as well as a PIN code to save and hide private photos and videos securely.

You can use the app for free, but if you sign up and pay $10 a month it will remove all in-app ads and unlock other features, such as the option to restore the file and different PINs for separate albums.
