His Eminence the Grand Imam, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, praised the UAE’s efforts in spreading the message of peace, love and tolerance, stressing that the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, presented to the world a unique model of tolerance and coexistence among different nationalities and cultures, and striving To achieve peace and spread goodness throughout the world.
This came during his participation in the Seventh Conference of “Religious Leaders”, whose work began in Kazakhstan yesterday, and will last for two days, under the title “The Role of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in the Spiritual and Social Development of Humanity in the Post-Covid-19 Epidemic.” .
The opening of the conference was attended by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, His Holiness Pope Francis, Pope of the Vatican, and leaders and leaders of religions around the world.
The conference began with a united call from religious leaders and leaders: “That God unites peoples, ends wars and conflicts, that security and safety prevail, that love replace hatred, that acquaintance replaces fanaticism, and that God empowers us to eliminate all environmental disasters.”
The “Leaders of Religions” conference is a unique event, hosted by Kazakhstan, once every three years, which confirms its prominent role in supporting peace, tolerance and dialogue initiatives between leaders and followers of religions, based on belief in the great role of religious leaders in spreading the voice of moderation to promote dialogue, and combating Religious intolerance that some extremist organizations seek within societies.
Yesterday, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif received the delegation of the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, headed by the Director General of the Ministry, Afra Al-Sabri, on the sidelines of his participation in the conference.
The meeting was attended by the country’s ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Dr. Muhammad Saeed Al-Areeqi, and the Secretary-General of the Council of Muslim Elders, Counselor Muhammad Abdulsalam.
His Eminence the Grand Imam welcomed the state delegation, appreciating the efforts of the UAE in spreading the message of peace, love and tolerance, promoting the values of human brotherhood among human beings, and supporting the issues of the Arab and Islamic nations, stressing that the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, has provided the world with a model Unique in tolerance and coexistence between different nationalities and cultures, and the constant pursuit of peace and spreading goodness around the world.
For her part, Afra Al-Sabri and the accompanying delegation conveyed the greetings and appreciation of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, to the Grand Imam, Sheikh of Al-Azhar.
She expressed the Ministry’s appreciation for his eminence’s efforts in spreading the correct image of the Islamic religion, and the efforts of the Muslim Council of Elders in promoting the unity of Islamic peoples and supporting Muslim causes, noting that the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence is always working to promote lofty human values, which all religions call for, and at the heart of it. Tolerance, coexistence and sympathy among all, whether within the United Arab Emirates, and its more than 200 nationalities, or across the world with its various cultures, colors and religions, which is the message that the UAE carries to the world in various fields.
She stressed that the ministry is keen to cooperate with various international, regional and religious institutions around the world, in order to achieve these lofty goals, praising the fruitful cooperation with the “Council of Muslim Elders” in implementing a set of initiatives that serve humanity, reject extremism and extremism, and uphold the values of dialogue. Cooperation and tolerance among human beings, as partners in humanity for a better future for all.
She also affirmed that the Emirati values and the legacy of the late founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, moderate Islam, and international norms are all of the main pillars on which the Ministry relied in its definition of tolerance and coexistence, which we all seek to spread around the world, praising the efforts of His Eminence the Imam The largest in this field.
It is worth noting that the Kazakh president awarded the Sheikh of Al-Azhar the Astana International Prize, which is one of the most prestigious awards in the Central Asian region, for his eminence’s contribution to interfaith dialogue and the dissemination of a culture of brotherhood and world peace.
The Kazakh President also awarded the Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, Muhammad Abdus Salam, the Astana Medal, in recognition of his efforts in promoting human brotherhood and supporting interfaith dialogue.
Abdel Salam was honored in front of leaders and leaders of world and traditional religions, in the presence of the Sheikh of Al-Azhar, Pope Francis, religious leaders and leaders, and heads and members of the delegations participating in the Seventh Conference of Religious Leaders.
